AVM Education provides MShed’s new learning spaces with state-of-the-art AV
AVM Education has completed a state-of the-art audio visual project in learning spaces at Bristol’s new MShed museum, as part of its recent renovation. MShed, located on the historic dockside in Bristol, is an exciting new flagship museum designed to retain the character of the former 1950s transit shed whilst providing an innovative and dynamic experience for visitors.
The £27 million renovation was a fantastic opportunity to build on the success of the industrial museum and widen its focus. This included two learning spaces for the delivery of lectures and for visitors to share experiences in a media-rich environment. AVM Education was called in at a late stage to supply and install the audio visual equipment.
The project consisted of a large electrically operated projection screen, high brightness wide screen projector, zoned audio system via an audio mixer processor, 4 wireless microphones, 1 lectern microphone, a DVD player and hearing loop. This system was fully integrated with a wall mounted Crestron control panel and an AMX media switcher. People can now use the AV technology in the space via very simple and intuitive controls, delivering media rich content with a high degree of impact.
AVM Education was able to deliver this complex integration project to very tight timescales, within the given budget. As the only approved AV supplier to Bristol City Council, AVM Education has had a long standing, and highly successful relationship supplying and installing a large number of AV projects in Bristol.
Ray Barnett, MShed said that:
“The Industrial Museum eventually reached the point where extensive renovation of the building was essential if it was to continue as a public venue. The audio visual element of the project has provided an easy-to-use, modern and interactive environment. AVM Education was able to deliver this at short notice and worked hard to ensure it was delivered within the given timescales and remained within budget. We are delighted with the renovation work which has provided modern visitor facilities which will last well into the future.”
On 9th November 2011 AVM will be hosting a technology event at the MShed. Delegates will be able to see the latest AV technology from top manufacturers and network with industry experts.
